Smoothies are some of the best foods to help with the stomach problems I have. On top of that, they can be delicious. My hubby, being the loving guy he is, came up with this recipe for the smoothies he regularly makes for me. Let’s look at the benefits of each ingredient. Greek yogurt has probiotics that help promote a healthy gut by increasing the good bacteria that helps digest food. Green veggies have an abundant amount of antioxidants and less sugar than fruits. Then he freezes them so they are ready to go into the blender. During berry season, we use fresh, and also use our Seal-a-Meal and freeze them for the off season. (We’ve learned to freeze the berries first before sealing them.) Blueberries are probably the most nutritious, but we also freeze strawberries and raspberries. Hubby often uses two kinds of berries in the drink. Ingredients 1 cup frozen greens 16 ounces aloe vera juice (may be flavored if desired) 1 cup each two kinds of berries (fresh or frozen) 2 tablespoons ground flax seed 1 1/2 cups Greek yogurt
Directions 1. Blend the greens, juice, and berries until smooth. 2. Add the flax seed and yogurt and blend again. 3. Pour 8 ounces in a glass and enjoy. Refrigerate the remaining for later.
